SICILIANOS THE GREEK MODERNIST

This book was conceived as a doctoral thesis, completed in 2015 in the Department of Music, Goldsmiths, University of London. There are a number of people whom I would like to acknowledge for guidance or help during the course of researching, writing and completing this book. First of all, I am deeply grateful to my teacher, the late Professor Tatsis Apostolides, who introduced me to the works of Yorgos Sicilianos and bequeathed me his personal copies of scores by many modern Greek composers whose works he premiered and championed. His inspirational approach to teaching and to music in general has enriched my playing and appreciation of music in ways that I am only just beginning to comprehend.
